An important part of meeting preparation that many skip
There’s an important part of preparing for a meeting, that many either skip or simply just don’t think about.
I've found that beyond looking at LinkedIn profiles and reading the latest company news, spending time looking at the annual report for the company gives you a much better perspective on the situation your meeting partner is in.
Is the company growing or slowing? Are they expanding into new markets or categories? What emphasis do they put on their people, and their customers? Etc.
It seems obvious, but many do not take the time to peruse annual reports.
Try it. It is not always boring, and often you will learn something new.
Whether you use it or not in the meeting matters less. You will be and feel better prepared and that will come across.
