Success is understanding
When I look at all the things I have tried to build, launch and achieve commercial success with over the years there is a clear pattern for what leads to success:
Understanding
Failure was almost guaranteed in all of the cases where I did not fully understand the customer and their challenges. When I just jumped into solving a problem, that I thought was clearly defined, and understood. But it was not.
In addition to speaking with customers early in your product/service/company development process, you must also obsessively observe them where they would benefit from what you are building. Out in the wild. From a distance so as to not affect their actions (no stalking please)
