What makes a great leader?
The list is pretty long.
But, there is one sentence that sums it up very nicely:
“Leadership is not about forcing your will on others. It’s about mastering the art of letting go.”
I take that as letting go of things like:
- your ego
- your preconceived notion of what someone can/cannot do
- what has happened, so you can focus on what’s ahead (but of course applying lessons learned)
The quote comes from Phil Jackson the former basketball coach of the Chicago Bulls, and the LA Lakers, who arguably was very successful in getting big egos to work together.
What other great, slightly unusual, leadership quotes can you think of?
