Being who you are
Spoke to a young CEO yesterday, and she talked about 'playing a role', trying to be 'the right CEO.'
I offered that we all take on roles or traits to try and manage in relationships. We are biologically programmed to do so.
But, that thankfully over time as we get more professional experience we learn that who we are is our strongest trait and the best role we can play. And our biology adapts.
So my advice was (and always is):
Be who you are. There is no one better. Your people, board, and investors chose you.
Not something you are not.
