Slow vs. Split-second decisions
During the average day, we probably make thousands of split-level decisions. Many of which we do not even register.
Or if we register, we might not have an articulated 'why' to why we are doing something that way or deciding to move in that direction.
According to psychologist Keith Payne, many of those decisions are guided by our stereotypes and prejudices, even ones we may not necessarily endorse or believe.
In other words, we do something we actually do not believe in or would be able to endorse if we were cognizant that we were doing it.
Another argument for slowing down our decision-making processes within ourselves.
